Why do people download Trillions substandard software?

I dunno kona, I just went the the WU site and let it do its whole "scan my computer" abortion, and amongst the updates it threw one at me the was called "Windows Installer (3.1 I think it was)" As I said before though, I haven't had any trouble with anything else... When I dblclick the executable it goes through the whole EULA thing, then when it begins to install, a dialog appears listing what the installer is doing. It gets to the third step (decompressing files) and immediately dies. I mean it just disappears! No crash dump... NOTHING. Very frustrating. I've tried it on, like three different computers, several times each. Then I gave up and threw a little hissy fit, yelled at the dog, and wrote the article :

: OH! And I also perused Cerulean's site to see if anyone there had any advice... Nothing remotly similar (which makes it just that much more annoying) so I sent them a ticket. We'll see what they come back with, but I can't think of why it would happen to me and not ANYone else. Weird.

I recently found a version of trillian that works pefrectly!3.1 basic build 121 has no problems doing file transfers or webcams..... audio.....etc...
Personally I like Skinnable messenger programs! AIM is skinnable.....but through a 3rd party app...... msn messenger is the same way all the other programs i found that connect to all the different messenger services where hard to use.......and half didnt even work at all! So I disagree with Hazylunarrain on this subject!

I have never had any trouble with the trill! I just think your trying to abuse this software cause you are the only one who can't get past your ego. Not their fault you can't get it to install.

My reason for using trillian (and have been using it for 2-3 years now, and have not had problems) is to have the following functions.

1. AIM and IRC in 1 handy place on my screen, not multiple programs
2. The "logging" feature that it has, as i use it for business, and love to be able to search thru chat sessions to find a phone # or web site, or just to say "you did too say.... " lol
3. NO FRIKEN AOL CRAP! No Ad's no Popup dang junk that clogs my screen, that alone is WELL worth the PRO cost!

Just those 3 alone are will make me keep using trillian for the time being. I also do like the skinning aspect, but the ones i have seen are not all that great, and i think WC needs to have a Trillion Section so i can see what some of the amazing skinners here can come up with. I might even be brave enough to try.. OK maybe not. LOL

The ONLY issue i have had with trillian has been the mysterious disappearance of my settings for user names etc. Every now and then (i think 3 times now) i have logged in and found that the names i have given the nicknames on my list have all vanished, and the XML file has managed to get corrupted. I have brought this up with their tech support and asked them to start making a BACKUP once a week or so of this file, not sure if that will EVER happen, but now and then i go in and copy the XML setup file.

If you don't like it, just get something else. If you have a complaint, email Trillian. I find MSN Messenger Great!

I haven't had many problems with trillian, but one of the big things people seem to like about it is the ability to have multiple sessions of the same IM program running (3 AIM sn's, 4 MSN's, 5 Yahoo, and a partridge in a pear tree).

I agree! I have used past versions, and maybe one or two didn't have any troubles whatsoever. Truth be told, it's because of Trillion that I found WC! I just can't for the life of me figure out WHY it seems to be so prejudiced towards me. I mean... Isn't it weird that it will install just fine for everyone but me? WAIT! While tryping this I had a sudden brain fart! Lemme download it again, and try something I just thought of...brb

well, i have been using trillian since v.074 (or some other number beginning with 7) and nver had any problems... MSN was only dropped when MS had Network Problems.
For IRC i use Gamers.IRC, but for the few times i visit the IRC Network i could probably do with Trillians limited IRC Capabilities.

I agree its a bit extreme to attack a program that has worked flawlessly for many and even for yourself in the past, that is not working properly now. Evidentily there is something on your PC that trillian doesn't cooperate with.

As for the person said they would approve if you died, this poster should be banned from WC. No matter how badly someone complains about something, death is not something you wish on someone.
